Ad concepts for small brands, checked against the ASCI code before the shoot
TL;DR Scriptfold turns a short brief from a small Indian brand into several ad concepts and scripts, then flags anything in each route that's likely to breach the ASCI code or its new rules on AI-made content. Small brands and lean agencies pay a monthly fee to get to a shootable, defensible idea faster.
Small advertisers now drive a big share of Indian ad spend. One industry media report counts ₹363 billion of 2025 digital advertising coming from over a million small and long-tail advertisers[1]. Few of them have a creative team, and even fewer have anyone who reads the advertising code.
You can see the result in the complaints. In April to September 2025 the Advertising Standards Council of India scrutinised 6,117 ads, and 98% of the ads it processed needed some change, with 97% of violations on digital media[2]. A pulled ad means a reshoot or wasted media money. And generic chatbots will happily write a "before and after" script that the code doesn't allow.
The founder of a skincare or snack brand fills in a one-page brief - product, audience, budget, channel and any claims they can prove. Scriptfold returns four to six concept routes, each with a one-line idea, a 30-second script and a shot list sized to the budget.
Every route then goes through a rules check built from the ASCI code and its guidelines. It flags unproven claims, missing disclosures on influencer posts and uses of AI that need a label. The September 2026 ASCI guideline on synthetic content, for example, requires a label for AI-generated ambassadors and bans fabricated testimonials[3]. Each flag cites the clause and suggests a safer line.
The seed promised AI that breaks creative block. Idea generation alone is a free feature of every chatbot, so I built the product around the step those tools skip, which is a concept the brand can actually run. Scriptfold is a drafting and pre-check aid, not legal advice or an ASCI clearance.
Founders of small D2C and regional brands pay, and so do the two-to-ten-person agencies that serve them. A plausible price is ₹3,000–15,000 a month (our estimate). Buyers will compare it with a freelance copywriter per script, or with a paid expert review, since ASCI itself runs an advisory service that assesses scripts and storyboards before release[2].
ASCI published its synthetic-content labelling guideline in September 2026[3], so brands using AI visuals now face a new set of rules that hardly any small team has read. Digital advertising reached ₹947 billion in 2025, 63% of all ad revenue[1], and most of it is short video that small brands knock out quickly.
There's no public figure for spending on ad-concept tools in India. The narrow signal is the volume of problems - ASCI looked into 6,841 complaints in six months[2] and has handled 90,939 complaints in total[4]. The adjacent number is the ₹363 billion small and long-tail advertisers spent on digital ads in 2025[1], which is their media budget, not your market.
One global AI ad-creative platform sells to large brands, with brand-standard enforcement but no stated check against Indian codes[5]. ASCI's advisory service reviews scripts, but by experts, case by case[2]. General chatbots and design tools spit out concepts with no compliance step at all. The gap is a cheap, fast pre-check bundled with the concept work, built for Indian rules and small budgets.

Generating concepts is easy. The hard part is a rules engine that catches real problems without flagging everything, and that needs someone who knows ASCI decisions well. Small brands churn quickly too, so the product has to earn a monthly habit.
There's no sector licence for this. The rules you need to know are the ones your product checks against.
Building this outside India? The categories above usually have a local equivalent, so check with your own regulator.
Don't treat the check as legal advice or a clearance. A human with ASCI experience should review anything borderline.

I'd say try it if you've worked in an agency or in advertising compliance. If you only want to build a prompt wrapper then don't bother. First prove that the rules check catches issues a brand would have missed, by running 50 real scripts and comparing flags with an expert reviewer.
Plan for roughly ₹30–60 L, mostly on the rules engine, an advertising-compliance expert and early sales to small brands.
No sector licence. You need the usual company registration, GST once over the threshold and DPDP compliance, plus a deep working knowledge of the ASCI code.
Yes, most markets have an advertising standards body with its own code. Rebuild the rules engine around that code before you sell.
The free Scriptfold validation kit has the line-by-line capital breakdown, the effort scoring, the advertising-rules checklist, a 14-day validation sprint with pass/fail targets, a 90-day launch plan, 10 interview questions for brand founders and agencies, and 5 assumptions to test. Thinking about building Scriptfold or something close to it? The make-or-break work is a rules check that experts agree with and small brands trust, and that's the bit I'd want to work through with you first. If you need a hand, you know where to find me. Talk to Yash →
